My role and the impact of COVID on Apprentices
Hi, I’m Jason and I am the Head of National Key Accounts.
Working for the National Key accounts team, this year has certainly been a strange time for us. Within my role, my focus has been on supporting our key contacts with trying to keep Apprentices progressing on their Apprenticeships. Depending on the situation, this could be whilst they’re on furlough or when the company has been extremely busy! This has been made possible by the use of our bespoke Learning Environment and Video Conferencing platforms. This technology has enabled us to safely give them the teaching and support required, to successfully complete their Apprenticeship programmes.
Whilst I still prefer face to face interactions and learning, this period has really opened my eyes to how efficient our remote platforms are and how learners can still achieve great things. Something that has been proven by the results that have been achieved this year.
Results and Reflections
Since the end of March, over 70% of our Learners have gained Distinctions in their chosen Apprenticeships, with 100% Distinction pass rates in our Operations/Departmental Manager L5 and Customer Service Practitioner L2 Apprenticeships.
I believe that a more blended way to learning could be a more efficient way of working for Employers and Employees alike in the future. Based on the conversation I have had with my contacts over the last few weeks, I believe they also share this view.
I am really proud of what we have all been able to achieve during this challenging period. I believe the results are a real testament to the true partnerships we share between SR Apprenticeship and our valued employers.
