Introductions
My name is Gillian and my role within the business is a HR/L&D Tutor and Assessor here at SR
Apprenticeships. I am a mum of two grown children, a son who has started his first post-grad role as a Quantity Surveyor and a daughter who has just had an 18th ‘lockdown’ Birthday and is in year 13 at school.
We have, like everyone I am sure, had our ups and downs of working from home during lockdown. But for me it is mostly ups as I really am passionate about my role and speaking to people every day really cheers me up.
Previous Experience
I have spent many happy years in HR and Learning & Development, working within the Public, Private and not for profit sectors in senior roles, Head of Department and Business Partnering.
HR and L&D plays a vital role in developing an organisation’s business strategy and supporting its Employees and that’s why I am so excited about this field.
I achieved my CIPD level 7 Qualification many years ago and have always been passionate about Learning & Development and supporting others. Apprenticeships have grown over the years and are a fantastic way to learn new skills, which ultimately lead to new found confidence, whilst also being supported by your employer with time to study and develop.
My role within SR Apprenticeships
I have a very busy role which can be assessing papers, speaking to Apprentices, tutoring, developing learning plans, working on their skills, and generally chatting about their day. This can mean the world of difference if someone lives alone. We do this via Zoom, Skype, Teams, Go to, you name it we have tried it. We are all in this together and learners have been great and continuing to show great progress, which is absolutely why I love this job.
